Nidesoft MKV Converter is a multi-format video converter. Since it can also convert video files to audio formats, it can be considered an audio ripper. The application can convert MKV and other video formats to a variety of different formats. Thanks to its large list of conversion profiles, Nidesoft MKV Converter makes conversion of files for playback on specific devices an easy task. There are over 20 different profiles available.
I observed a little problem with this converter. Whatever conversion profile you select, the video will always be converted to a file that is 320x240 in resolution. To change this, you have to select the file, go to options and select the resolution from a drop-down menu. There are only five resolutions available and you can't manually type in the resolution that you want, or tell the application to preserve the resolution of the original file. This, for any serious user, will be more than unacceptable. And beginner users might not understand this at all. Such an important problem undermines everything that the application can achieve, including format support.
All in all, this converter is seriously flawed, but it can easily be fixed. Maybe future versions will be better. |
